چکیده
This investigation aimed to assess the influence of soil-applied vermicompost, nitrogen and zinc on vegetative growth parameters, yield, mineral nutrient concentration fruits okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench). The experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design followed by three replications. Data were subjected analysis variance mean values compared using Tukey’s Range Test at p ≤ 0.05. Variation among eight treatments: control (T1), 6 ton ha-1 vermicompost (T2), 60 kg N (T3), 2 Zn (T4), + (T5), (T6), (T7), (T8). maximum performance yield contributing properties okra, viz. plant height (56 cm), leaf number (11 plant-1), area (14.5 cm2), stem girth (3.5 branch (8 fruit (6.50 diameter (5.50 length (13.50 weight fresh (64.29 g) dry materials (14.56 g), found T5. Field experiments were conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Nigeria during the farming seasons of 1997-1999. The objective of the experiments was to establish the effects of cropping arrangements and rainfall on the performance of two varieties of okra plant (Indian long white and short local varieties) in terms of flower and fruit initiation...
متن کاملAssessment of genetic relatedness among okra genotypes [abelmoschus esculentus (l.) Moench] using rapd markers
DNA based RAPD (Randomly Amplification of Polymorphic DNA) markers have been used extensively to study genetic relationships in number of crop plants. In this study, 44 okra genotypes collected from different parts of India, were selected to assess genetic distinctiveness and relatedness. Total genomic DNA was extracted and subjected to RAPD analysis using 14 arbitrary 10 mer primers. The molec...
